Dana joins CT Consultants’ expanding planning group under the leadership of David Hartt and Kristin Hopkins. With a passion for improving communities, Dana will provide planning support for community planning and zoning services as well as community development projects. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from The Ohio State University, Dana obtained a Master of Urban Planning & Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Kris Hopkins, CT’s Principal Planner says “Dana is a great addition to our planning team! Because community planning is all about meeting the needs of people — as residents, conservationists, employees, business owners, etc. — her diverse background is a plus. Dana’s drive and personal desire to improve our communities combined with her dexterity in juggling multiple projects makes her a great fit for our growing team.”

Why did you choose Planning as a career?
I learned about urban planning and community development during a high school economics class assignment which tasked us to search the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) site and choose a hypothetical career path. I loved the idea of improving communities in terms of both the welfare of people and the physical place. The following year, for my senior project, I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was hooked on addressing housing issues and revitalizing urban areas.
How do you feel your talents and experience will help CT Consultants clients?
I’ve had experience working in the non-profit, public, and private sector which gives me a unique perspective on planning.
What are you looking forward to most working at CT Consultants?
I’m excited for the opportunity to work on both the Planning team with David Hartt and Kris Hopkins and on the CHIP Community Development team with Phyllis Dunlap. I am so thrilled to have the chance to learn from such accomplished and well-respected planners. I’m looking forward to assisting on a wide range of different projects and consulting for a variety of clients and jurisdictions each with their own unique needs.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My favorite thing to do is to see live music with my family- both immediate and extended. We travel to both big cities and small towns and have traveled as far as San Francisco, Las Vegas, Red Rocks in Colorado, Miami and even Mexico to name a few. In the past few years I’ve also started taking piano lessons.
