Gary Kron WWTP Trickling Filter Upgrade

Mentor, Ohio

The Gary L. Kron WWTP treats an average daily flow of 20 mgd and has a design peak flow of 32 mgd.

Due the age, condition, and operations, the two existing tricking filters and associated equipment required upgrade and replacement. CT prepared plans and specification for the replacement of the trickling filters rotary distributors, replacement of the top two layers of trickling filter media, and the installation of protective surface grating.

The project also included miscellaneous structural repairs including painting of steel base plates, shim plates and angle assemblies supporting the precast concrete tank wall panels; replacement of 2,100 lf of poured polyurethane joint sealant; 8 lf of crack repairs using epoxy injection; and patching approximately 53 sf of unsound concrete on the outside surface of precast wall panels.
